Why This Paris-Based Atelier Is Redefining the World of Collectible Model Cars

Levegh is turning iconic race cars into one-of-one handmade artefacts.

What if the most exclusive Ferrari F40 isn’t full-sized?

The Ferrari F40 is already a hero car for many — a poster child of performance and purity. But the F40 LM? That’s in a league of its own. Only 19 units were ever made, and spotting one in the flesh is a moment no automotive enthusiast forgets.

Now imagine something even rarer: A one-of-one 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari F40 LM — handcrafted in France by the newly launched Parisian atelier, Levegh. No copies. No reissues. No production runs. Just one object. Meticulously built. And never repeated.

When I came across Levegh earlier this year — just weeks after their quiet launch — I was intrigued enough to reach out directly to the founder, Nicolas Pasquier. What I found was a compelling blend of vision, craftsmanship, and personal conviction.

From Passion Project to Prestige Artefact

Levegh is named in honour of Pierre Levegh — the French racing driver and engineer whose legacy includes a defining act of selflessness at Le Mans in 1955. That moment of character, precision, and sacrifice inspired a brand built on three core values: Atelier. Art. Automobile.

This isn’t about mass-market scale models. Levegh exists to create one-of-one collector pieces that blur the line between technical mastery and emotional storytelling.

Each model takes more than 1,000 hours to build, composed of 1,500–2,000 parts, many of which are painted, weathered, or machined by hand. The materials range from resin and carbon fibre to leather, metal, and glass. No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Everything is made in France by a team of seasoned artisans with over 30 years of experience in high-precision model making.

A Personal Comparison: Levegh vs Amalgam

Many of you know Amalgam Collection — the current benchmark in high-end scale models. I was briefly involved in Amalgam’s distribution during my time in Hong Kong, and I’ve always appreciated their attention to detail.

But Levegh is something different.

While Amalgam builds up to 200 units of a given model, often in China, Levegh produces each model once — and only once. There are no editions. No variants. The founder’s philosophy is clear: if you buy a Levegh, you’re the only one in the world who owns that version.

Where Amalgam prices tend to top out around €20,000–€25,000, Levegh starts there — with bespoke commissions ranging up to €100,000. But the difference isn’t just in the numbers. It’s in the intention.

These are not scale models. They are scaled dreams.

Soul in Every Scratch

What struck me most is how Levegh captures use and soul — not just form. Their models don’t always shine. Some show patina. Some look like they’ve just done a lap around Spa-Francorchamps.

In their collection, you’ll find:

  1. A Porsche 917K with weathered race dust and faded decals
  2. A McLaren MP4/4 that recalls Senna-era grit and glory
  3. A Ferrari that looks like it just came off the track — scaled with soul
  4. And a weathered AC Cobra that seems to have roared through Goodwood minutes ago

Even better, clients can order a scale re-creation of their own real-life car — down to the wear on the leather or a scratch on the bumper. It’s obsessive, in the best possible way.

Every piece is authenticated by blockchain, and delivered with concierge-level service.

The Asian Collector Mindset

From my own experience, I know many collectors across Asia — whether of classic, contemporary, or motorsport vehicles — who enjoy having scaled versions of their cars displayed in their homes, offices, or lounges.

It’s about surrounding yourself with the cars you love, not just owning them. Levegh fits perfectly into that ecosystem: emotional, tangible, personal — and impossible to copy.

Why It Matters for Luxury Brands and Sellers

This isn’t just a story about model cars. It’s a textbook example of how luxury functions in today’s world.

Nobody needs a one-of-one €40,000 model. But the right customer wants it — deeply.

And that’s the entire point.

True luxury sales are built not on features, but on the ability to uncover and activate desire. Levegh doesn’t pitch specs. It sparks a feeling.

That’s the exact kind of mindset shift we explore in my Luxury Sales Masterclass — how to move beyond information and step into emotional connection, scarcity, story, and personalisation.

Whether you’re a collector, a brand strategist, or someone navigating what tomorrow’s luxury buyer will crave — Levegh is one to watch.

Not because they’re trying to scale.

But because they’re refusing to.
